Analysts’ forecasts and our earlier warnings have proven accurate — Apple has officially updated pricing across its online Apple Store. Following a brief maintenance period on June 25, 2026, the store returned online with significantly higher prices on several product categories.
Apple CEO Tim Cook described the move as “unavoidable.” According to the company, the primary driver behind the price increases is the unprecedented shortage and soaring costs of DRAM memory and NAND flash storage.
The global artificial intelligence boom and the rapid expansion of AI data centers have pushed demand for memory components to record levels. As a result, the cost of key hardware used in consumer electronics has climbed dramatically. Apple stated that it had absorbed much of the increased cost for as long as possible, but maintaining previous pricing had become “unsustainable.”
Notably, iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods prices remain unchanged for now. However, Mac and iPad models have seen average price increases ranging from 15% to 25%.

As we previously reported, the possibility of Apple price increases had been growing for months as memory suppliers redirected production toward AI infrastructure and high-performance computing markets.
What Does This Mean for Consumers?
The price adjustments highlight the growing impact of AI-related demand on the broader consumer technology industry. With memory and storage costs continuing to rise, Apple may not be the last manufacturer forced to revise pricing.
Consumers considering a new Mac or iPad may want to act quickly if retailers still have inventory purchased under previous pricing structures. Once those units are sold, replacement stock is expected to reflect the new, higher prices.
