Apple’s Major iOS 19 Update: What to Expect?

Масштабне оновлення iOS 19 від Apple- чого чекати

Apple is preparing to unveil a massive design overhaul for its operating systems—iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16. These changes, set to arrive in the second half of 2025, will be the most significant updates since iOS 7 and macOS Big Sur.

What Will Apple Change in iOS 19?

The first thing to note is that the promised changes from last June have yet to materialize. So, should we expect something groundbreaking? Probably not. The updates are likely to be largely cosmetic.

Additionally, these changes seem designed to distract users from Apple’s setbacks in AI development and the underwhelming improvements to Siri.

The updates to iOS 19 and iPadOS 19, codenamed “Luck,” as well as macOS 16, named “Cheer,” will go beyond just visual tweaks. This will be the biggest update for Mac since macOS Big Sur (2020) and the most radical change for iPhone since iOS 7 in 2013. Apple promises more than just aesthetic improvements—it aims for a real evolution of its operating systems.

The Purpose Behind These Updates

According to Bloomberg, all these updates are aimed at making Apple’s ecosystem work even more seamlessly. Switching between devices will become easier, but the ultimate goal is clear: to create an environment where buying one Apple device almost inevitably leads to purchasing others.

Despite the industry trend toward unifying platforms, Apple remains committed to keeping Mac and iPad operating systems separate, unlike some competitors. The company believes this approach allows it to improve both devices while maintaining their unique capabilities. Plus, this is a strategic move—users who want the full Apple experience are more likely to invest in both a Mac and an iPad rather than just one.

What’s Changing in the Design?

The most noticeable change will be the redesigned interface. The updates will refresh icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons to create a more unified visual experience across Apple devices.

This change has been long overdue. iOS and macOS have barely evolved in terms of design over the years and are starting to look outdated compared to modern UI trends.

The new design will be partially based on visionOS, the operating system for Apple Vision Pro, bringing depth, transparency, and floating windows to menus.

What Does This Mean for Users in Ukraine?

At the moment, Apple Intelligence is not available in Ukraine, and this update won’t change that. But let’s be honest—how often do you really use AI on your smartphone? Do you need anything beyond ChatGPT?

If you generate text, images, or videos, you probably do it on a laptop or desktop with a larger screen. According to recent studies, only 2% of smartphone buyers choose new models specifically for built-in AI features—and most of them are bloggers and tech reviewers.

When Will the Update Be Released?

The first look at the new design is expected at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, which traditionally takes place in June. After that, Apple will test the updates for several months before the official launch in the fall.

Will Apple truly deliver on its promises this time? We’ll see. If any software leaks emerge, we’ll be the first to let you know. To stay updated, follow us on social media.
