As Google finalizes its preparations for the global release of the Android 17 operating system, leading tech manufacturers are revising their device update schedules. Xiaomi is no exception and has officially updated its EOS (End of Support) list. This list includes gadgets for which the regular release of software updates and security patches is completely reaching its end.

Xiaomi Drops Support for a Number of Popular Smartphones and Tablets: List of Models Getting “Stuck” in Summer 2026

Xiaomi’s current policy states that smartphones released after 2021 receive updates for four years, while flagships launched after 2023 get up to six years of support. However, the life cycle of even the most popular models eventually comes to a close. It has been revealed which specific devices from the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO brands will be left without support in the summer of 2026.

Xiaomi has updated the data on its official security portal, the Xiaomi Trust Center. The documentation clearly defines the timeline for shifting popular mobile devices and tablets into EOL (End-of-Life) status. Once these dates pass, the manufacturer completely stops rolling out planned operating system updates, the proprietary HyperOS skin, and monthly security patches.

Since the life cycle of many bestsellers is designed to last 3–4 years from the release date, a significant portion of devices under the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO brands will permanently lose software support.

Who Has Already Been Left Without Updates in Spring?

According to Xiaomi’s official schedule, the support period has already concluded for several iconic models during the first half of the year. For these devices, the current builds based on Android 15 (HyperOS 2.0 / HyperOS 3.0, depending on the device tier) will mostly remain the final software versions:

  • POCO X5 Pro 5G — February 2026
  • Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro — March 2026
  • Redmi Note 12 5G — March 2026
  • Redmi 12C, Redmi A2, and Redmi A2+ — March 2026
  • Redmi Note 12 Pro — April 2026
  • POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro — May 2026

Schedule for Summer and Autumn 2026

In the coming months, the EOL list on the trust.mi.com website will expand with another large wave of gadgets. This includes popular sub-flagships and a major lineup of affordable tablets.

July 2026:

  • Xiaomi 12 Lite smartphone
  • Xiaomi Pad 6 tablet

August 2026:

  • Redmi Pad SE tablet (base version)
  • Redmi Pad SE 8.7 and Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G tablets

October — November 2026:

  • Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro smartphones (October)
  • Redmi 13C and POCO C65 smartphones (November)

What Does EOL Status Mean for Users?

A device entering the official End-of-Life list does not mean it will suddenly shut down or stop working. Users will still be able to make calls, launch apps, snap photos, and use all the hardware capabilities without any issues.

However, two key factors must be considered:

  1. Software dead end: These models will no longer receive future major Android OS global updates.
  2. Security risks: Without monthly patches, devices become more vulnerable to new types of cyberattacks and exploits. Over time (usually 1.5–2 years post-EOL), banking app developers and crypto wallets may restrict support for outdated OS versions due to user security concerns.

An Important Exception from Xiaomi

The manufacturer reserves the right to make adjustments in critical situations. If a massive vulnerability is discovered in the operating system code of devices on the EOL list that threatens the security of millions of users, Xiaomi may roll out an emergency, targeted security patch even for an outdated model.

Experts recommend that owners of gadgets whose support period is coming to an end pay closer attention to digital hygiene (avoid installing APK files from unverified sources) or consider a planned upgrade to more current models.
