OPPO is officially preparing to unveil the latest version of its custom skin, ColorOS 17. Moving away from rumors of a radical visual overhaul, the company has chosen a different path: doubling down on speed and stability. At the same time, this update will mark the most significant structural shift in recent years, uniting three major brands — OPPO, OnePlus, and realme — under one unified software umbrella.
Launch Set for September 17, 2026
OPPO has officially confirmed the release date for ColorOS 17 as September 17, 2026. The main keynote, scheduled from 10:00 to 11:20 AM, will focus on two key pillars: signature interface fluidity and a transition toward more proactive artificial intelligence. Built on Android 17, the new software will make its debut alongside the flagship Find X10 series.
Performance Over Visual Spectacle
One of the clearest statements regarding the update’s direction came from OPPO Design Director Chen Xi, who publicly pushed back against the industry-wide “liquid glass” trend on Android. ColorOS 17 will not feature a complete redesign or heavy transparency effects reminiscent of Apple software. Instead, the entire summer engineering cycle was dedicated to optimizing existing components.
Rather than chasing a visual upheaval, the system focuses on fine-tuning the rendering engine, minimizing background frame drops, improving RAM management for longer app retention, and enhancing power efficiency during daily tasks.
Subtle Visual and Interface Refinements
Despite the emphasis on underlying performance, the system does include meaningful visual polish. Teasers highlight a new Live Activity panel on the lock screen for real-time process tracking, alongside refreshed notification animations when dismissing banners. The core design philosophy remains familiar, though interactions feel significantly sharper.
The navigation interface is also receiving an update: the traditional fixed bottom bar gives way to a floating pill capsule hovering over content, an element OPPO intends to integrate across nearly all native applications. Smooth transitions across these interfaces are handled by a new animation engine named Fluid Fusion.
Unifying Three Brands Under One Operating Platform
The most consequential news behind ColorOS 17 is OPPO’s decision to phase out separate OxygenOS and Realme UI skins in favor of a single shared platform. OnePlus and realme confirmed in mid-July 2026 that their devices will transition directly to ColorOS 17 starting with the Android 17 update cycle. A OnePlus representative in India described the move as an operational realignment aimed at consolidating engineering resources across OPPO’s broader smartphone ecosystem.

Closed Beta Program Status
Early testing began on August 6, 2026, with application windows open for two days and capped at 300 slots per eligible model. Beta builds rolled out in two distinct phases: August 11 for the Find X9 Pro series, followed by August 13 for remaining supported devices.
The closed beta roster encompasses flagship OPPO Find and Reno series phones, the OnePlus 15 lineup (including the OnePlus 15R), and the realme GT 8 Pro. OPPO has characterized these early builds as highly unstable, intended strictly for developer feedback rather than primary daily use.
Initial Device Availability and Global Rollout Schedule
The stable version of ColorOS 17 will launch out of the box with the OPPO Find X10 series in China. Regulatory certification leaks from Digital Chat Station indicate that both the Find X10 and Find X10 Pro have already cleared network approvals in China, complete with support for the 5G N79 band.
Following the September 17 launch, OPPO plans to progressively adapt the system for over 130 smartphone models across the three unified brands. Broader international deployment outside China is expected to begin in early 2027.
