At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Samsung Electronics introduced the world’s first 130-inch TV using Micro RGB technology — a new peak for the ultra-large home theater category. It’s not only a size statement, but also a clear example of how modern display tech is reshaping image quality and premium TV design.
What this TV is
The new Samsung R95H features a massive 130-inch diagonal screen, making it one of the largest TVs ever shown at CES. It’s built around Micro RGB, a technology designed to deliver crisper, richer color by controlling light more precisely and processing the signal more intelligently.
Micro RGB differs from conventional LCD backlighting. Instead of traditional white LEDs, it uses separate tiny red, green, and blue LED elements. That approach can cover a wider color range and render shades more accurately — similar in ambition to top-tier OLED results, but with a different screen architecture.
A new take on design?
Samsung put the spotlight not only on the technical side, but also on the look of the TV. The R95H comes with a “Timeless Frame” — a frame that resembles an architectural window, turning the TV into something closer to an interior object than just a screen. The panel appears to “float” inside the frame, and the slim metal details make the set look lighter and more modern despite its extreme size.
Picture and audio
Samsung integrated several in-house technologies into the R95H to enhance the viewing experience:
- micro rgb ai engine pro — a video processor with ai-based optimization for color, contrast, and sharpness;
- micro rgb color booster pro and hdr pro — expanded dynamic range and tone handling for more realistic video;
- 100% bt.2020 coverage — wide color coverage aligned with professional video and cinema standards;
- hdr10+ advanced — a next-step hdr format for deeper detail in bright and dark scenes;
- eclipsa audio — spatial sound synchronized with the screen to create a stronger sense of presence.
Together, these features position the TV as more than “just bigger” — it’s meant to be one of the most capable ultra-large displays Samsung has shown. AI features such as voice control, content recommendation integration, and dedicated modes for sports or gaming are aimed at making daily use feel more practical, not just premium.
Why Samsung is betting on Micro RGB instead of OLED
Samsung is clearly aiming to stand out in the premium TV space not only with sheer size, but with a specific mix of design, image tech, and AI-driven processing. A 130-inch TV no longer reads like a concept — it’s presented as a real product that should become available soon (pricing and release timing have not been announced yet).
At CES 2026, Samsung also signals that the future of TVs is not just about screen size, but about image quality, integrated AI, and design that fits naturally into modern living spaces.
